Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and currently based in Los Angeles, Zev has established himself as an in demand drummer, working live and in the studio in a variety of musical styles.
Zev has performed at several notable venues including Davies Symphony Hall, The SFJAZZ Center, the Troubadour, El Rey, Yoshi’s, and BlueWhale, and has performed with artists such as Kristin Chenoweth, Sabrina Claudio, Bennie Maupin, Greg Osby, Regina Carter, Joe Lovano, David Binney, Louis Cole and many others. Zev also writes, records, and produces drums for a variety of projects such as engineering drums for James Gadson and writing and recording drums with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra.
Having graduated from the University of California with a degree in Jazz Performance, Zev studied primarily with Peter Erskine, Roy McCurdy, Aaron Serfaty, and Vince Mendoza. He was chosen to perform as a member of the USC Honors Combo and USC Composer’s Collective and performed at the 2017 Monterey Jazz Festival after winning the NextGen Jazz Festival.
Zev runs a home studio where he frequently writes, tracks, and produces drums on a variety of original music. His setup includes a variety of drum sets in an acoustically treated space, an RME interface + Octamic, Shure, AKG, Cascade, and Groovetube mics.
